Alan thrives on watching documentaries about how things are made and this broadened his perspective into understanding the nuts and bolts of architecture. Alan’s hard-working parents sparked a fascination with studying construction details to learn how they inform a structure.
As a young man, he had an opportunity to job-shadow someone at a large architectural and engineering firm and this inspired him to pursue his Bachelor of Science in architecture. While working toward his master’s degree, his career at 42° North has helped him become more proficient with 3D design software for conceptual design, site planning, and precision drafting.
To Alan, the most important aspect of 42° North is its unique collaborative environment. “Unlike the larger firms, everything about this design firm is a whole group effort. Everyone is really close and I am able to see how my work impacts the big picture and actually understand how things are done.”
