Travis has a solid genetic predisposition toward the construction industry coming from a family of masons including cousins, uncles, and his father. It was his father, however, who cemented his career by arranging an introduction to a respected architect while Travis was working as a brick tender during a summer break from college.
He went on to earn both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Architecture and with more than 20 years in architecture, he still feels that the clay is not dry; his skills continue to be shaped by experience.
Travis believes that the best architects do not impose their design sensibility on a client. They are gifted with the ability to listen to their client’s wishes and turn that into a pleasing composition. He and Ryan had worked together previously and knew they would someday join forces.
Travis brings left-brain thinking to 42° North Architecture and 14 years of serving on township boards developed the insight to see things from both sides of the table: the best design coupled with the reality of how the municipal rules can work to maximize the potential of a project.
Travis is excited about the challenges each day brings and will function to smooth the path from design to construction documents taking projects to the finish line with no surprises.
“HE STILL FEELS THAT THE CLAY IS NOT DRY; HIS SKILLS CONTINUE TO BE SHAPED BY EXPERIENCE”
Ryan and [the 42° North team] are the best architects I have had the pleasure to work with in 30 years I have been in the construction industry! We teamed up and completed a couple very successful projects in Michigan. I’m now looking forward to again working together on some projects in Texas.
