This client purchased a lot from a builder in a Rockford subdivision, and then had to select a home from his book of tract house plans. When they asked if they could make changes to the plan, the builder refused.
Let this be a cautionary tale to anyone who ultimately wants a customized home. If you start with a builder who isn’t credible, he can walk you down a path that will cost you time and money. This couple is now saddled with selling their lot in what has become a less-desirable neighborhood due to the building restrictions.
